Whether you are at home or at work, you don’t want people to stay away from you because of the odor that comes out when you talk. That is so embarrassing, and you don’t want it to happen to you. For that, though, you need to follow some rules and change your habits a bit. Once you get the hang of these habits, the bad breath will stay at bay.
Prevention
The first rule is to brush properly, for at least 5 minutes. You should brush properly and clean your full mouth. You should also pay attention to your tongue as research shows that a bad smell is made by the tongue. Clean your tongue and teeth thoroughly with your brush and good quality toothpaste. Even the toothpaste you use should be of good quality and should suit you, for example, if you have sensitive teeth, you should go for toothpaste that is soft on your teeth and still gives your mouth a good cleanse. You should also make a habit of rinsing your mouth after every meal, beverage, snacks or during the day, etc. This flushes your mouth and cleans it to some extent, thus preventing food to stay in your mouth that would cause bad breath. If possible, try to brush your teeth without toothpaste after every meal or snack.
You must have realized that your mouth smells most in the morning and at night, so rinse your mouth with a good mouthwash daily at these times. You should rinse your mouth with mouthwash for some minutes no matter how much it pains, and also you should not eat or drink anything for 30 minutes after rinsing.
Cure
Firstly, you should follow all steps written above, and for great results, you should follow some more steps too. The most obvious step is to drink lots of water and stay hydrated. As scientists cannot agree on the amount of water needed, you should follow your body cues.
You also should be wary of what you are consuming. Many foods like meat, garlic, onions etc. can result in bad breath. These foods should not be eaten in large amount, and you should brush right after eating any of these foods. But, there are some foods that should be eaten, such as parsley. Parsley may not be your food of choice, but it can do wonders for your mouth breath. You should skip smoking completely as smoke can make your mouth odor ridiculous and make everyone run away from you.
These steps may sound easy, and they are too. But follow them on a daily basis and see the miracles happen. You’ll get your fresh mouth back, and once you get it back, you wouldn’t want to let it go; so keep on going with your new habits.
